Homemade & Modified Blasters

Posted on September 24, 2011 by Eric R. W.

Hi Eric,

I dont have a particular question, I was just looking at your homemade and modified blasters. I am a big fan of DIY, and especially when people document somehow, the process that they used. Everyone has a particular way of doing things. I just wanted to see your way and admire what you have created. I look forward to the updates of your car and other projects. Thank you for allowing me to view your work. Have a good weekend.

Bryan

Thanks Bryan as that motivates me to keep putting more information out there and making the site better. Its been a while since I posted on the blog so I’ll make updates soon.

I am working on newer plans on how to make a pressure pot sandblaster which I should release this week.

If you have any questions, let me know.  Thanks

Hi Bryan, your website has a lot of good information. I would like to get a sand blaster that could clean up light rust and other debris from the inside of motorcyle tanks. This is for an artistic thing with the tanks not for using them on a bike. I would later paint the inside of the tank. I have a 20lb. compressor and just want a simple set up for this type of work. What would you suggest?
    Thanks for your time.

    Hi Craig,

If its just light rust, you can pretty much use any type of abrasive.

Thanks Eric, this website has been a tremendous help. I assume
that you would use a finer grit as you smooth the surface for
    preperation for painting.

No problem. That’s correct- if you want it to look very smooth you might want to look for something about 100 grit and finer.

As for light rust, most abrasive will get the job done, but harder abrasive like garnet, aluminum oxide will be quickest.

Sorry for jumping into your post, I cannot find were you starting a new post any were on this site, it is hiding some place.
Any way for those of you building your own tanks for any need or use, I am a wholesale distributer here in Canada, I am only to sell to shops, dealers and jobber, but most companies want me to get there product/s into the end users hands one way or another, being it is hard to get your foot in the door at big box ,stores, or chain stores, being they pay big bucks to belong to a buying group, they have to buy so much a year from the buying group, plus pay a very large members fee per year (in the thousands),, they will not buy from other suppliers such as me. It takes away from what they have to spend each years with the buying group/s

I sell thousands of product lines, one is weld on pipe flanges, available in stainless steel, black steel (minimum order on black or a surcharge applies), but you can weld stainless steel to black steel, also in aluminum, (all flanges are available in 2 wall thickness) including fuel tank sending unit weld on flanges, tank hold downs, tank legs, weld on pipe flange start at 1/8″ up to 4″ NTP and larger on large orders Wholesale site http://www.romppais.com Retail site http://www.romppais.ca
Thank you for hopefully not minding I posted this here, I am only trying to survive
